Description

   The City is comprised of 13 departments; the organization consists of 1,877 employees and a citywide budget of $614 million.  The Human Resources Department is led by the Chief People Officer, Lori Gentles, and consists of 3 divisions: Administrative Services, Employment & Classification and Employee Benefits, and Labor & Employee Relations and Organizational Learning.  With a team of 22 FTE superstars and $4.7 million budget, the Department serves to A ttract and retain the next generation of leaders, R einforce a civil and equitable workplace, and C ultivate a culture of accountability, empowerment and leadership.  The Assistant Human Resources Director/Labor Relations is responsible for the Labor/Employee Relations and Organizational Learning Division for proactively negotiating and administering the City's labor negotiations; providing assistance to departments regarding employee performance issues and disciplinary matters; investigating employee complaints; delivering professional development training opportunities for staff; administering the interactive/reasonable accommodation process; and monitoring compliance of various protected leave programs. 
 
Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resource Management or a closely related field.  A Juris Doctorate or Master's degree in a related field is highly desirable.  In addition, applicants must have 5 years of progressively responsible public sector human resources experience that includes significant experience negotiating MOU's; managing employee relations; human resources management or organizational development/training; recruitment and selection; classification and compensation administration and 3 years supervision/management of professional level staff.  The annual salary for this position $150,912 - $186,312 depending on experience, plus exceptional benefits.
