SUMMARY

Assists with company-wide human resource programs and the day-to-day management of personnel. Provides functional guidance for human resources administrative support needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions in the corporate area; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.Oversees background check process; reviews results and recommends action involvedWorks with payroll department to reconcile discrepancies related to employee time entriesPerforms routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance management; productivity; training and development.Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.Maintains knowledge of best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related fieldHuman Resources certification preferredExperience within the Maritime industry preferredAbility to communicate bilingually in English and Spanish preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS
Most work performed in office environment.Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
