Description: Description

The Human Resources Officer - Payroll is responsible for executing and managing the Banner payroll system, ensuring the accurate processing of payroll for faculty, staff, and students. This includes adhering to payroll deadlines, verifying salary amounts, pay changes, deferred pay, taxes, and deductions, and ensuring all amounts are correctly charged to appropriate labor distributions. The individual in this role will interpret employment contracts for various employee groups (CS/Prof, faculty, and graduate students), reviewing contracts for accuracy and identifying any irregularities. They will also verify data entered into the Banner system by Employment staff and the Provost's Office to ensure correct payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll through the Banner system in accordance with established deadlines.Ensure accurate salary payments, including pay changes, taxes, deductions, and deferments, charged to the correct labor distributions and dates.Review and interpret employment contracts for faculty, CS/Prof employees, and graduate students, ensuring accuracy for both new hires and existing employees with contract changes.Verify accuracy of data entered into the Banner system by Employment staff and the Provost's Office, ensuring correct payment.Identify and address any irregularities in contracts and payroll data, ensuring compliance with contract terms.Enter adjustments and corrections into the Banner system as needed.Create system overrides for late paperwork and other exceptional payroll issues.Primarily responsible for processing faculty and semi-monthly payrolls, with the ability to assist with bi-weekly and student payrolls as needed.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.Any one or any combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories:course work in human resource administration, business administration or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human resource records and reports.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver's License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.
