SAK Construction has is looking for an experienced HR Specialist to join our growing team in O'Fallon, MO. The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting HR functions with a focus on benefits administration, record-keeping, and other administrative tasks. Additionally, this position will provide backup support for reception duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General HR Administration and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR databases, ensuring data integrity.Process HR-related documentation including, but not limited to, employment verifications, status changes, unemployment claims, and leave requests.Provide administrative support to the HR team, including scheduling meetings, preparing HR-related documents, and handling correspondence.Engage in and contribute to the company event and wellness committees.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Benefits Administration:
Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations in a timely manner.Work with payroll to ensure accurate deductions and perform monthly reconciliations.Assist with developing and delivering benefits education materials.Audit benefit billing and enrollments. Assist with tracking union member benefits eligibility. Assist employees with benefit-related questions and issues, timely and accurately.
Leave of Absence Administration:
Assist with employee leave of absence programs including FMLA, disability, and other leaves of absence.Assist with processing leave of absence requests, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.Assist with tracking and managing leave balances, providing employees with accurate information about their leave status.Communicate with employees and managers regarding leave policies, procedures, and status updates.Serve as liaison with treating provider, insurance companies, employee(s) and any other involved entity to obtain clarification on documentation submitted to human resources.
General Administrative Support:
Assist with distribution of employee shirts and hats. Provide backup support for reception duties including greeting visitors, answering and directing phone calls, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on the operational needs of the organization.
Required Education and Experience
Associate or bachelor's degree in human resources.Minimum of 2 years of experience with benefits and leave of absence administration.Detail-oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.Works comfortably with little to no supervision during busy times.Understands sense of urgency and can demonstrate initiative.Regular attendance and punctuality.Excellent communication and customer service skills.High proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Ability to multi-task, stay organized and meet changing deadlines.Maintain staff confidentiality.
Preferred Education and Experience
